Makana began playing volleyball at the age of 11 with the South County Bandits in Windsor. Throughout her athletic career, she has been actively involved in coaching development programs and house leagues, sharing her passion and knowledge of the sport with younger athletes. 

Makana is in her second year of Engineering Physics at McMaster University. This is her first year coaching with Smash Raiders. She continues to coach because of her dedication to giving back to the volleyball community, and is eager to help athletes grow and develop their skills.

Mike Ongley

HEAD COACH - 13U SPARK

In the past 24 years, Michael has coached volleyball at many levels.  Currently he is assisting with Brock Badgers Women’s volleyball team, but also coached club at many age groups and high school.

He has coached teams to Tier 1 provincial and national championships at the club level, coached athletes at Team Ontario, and most recently helped coach Brock Women’s University team to 2 of its 4 Ontario championships.

He believes that his teams and athletes will be most successful when they make connections with each other, communicate open and honestly, collaborate with coaches and other athletes, and compete in practice and tournament play.

Mike is a high school teacher and places a priority on learning new skills and tactics, building relationships, and working towards a common goal.  He is a certified Advanced Performance coach.
