HEAD COACH - 15U ICE

Aleksandar Ljubicic

Aleks was born and raised in Hamilton and attended Barton Secondary High School. He helped the senior volleyball team to three straight HWDSB Championships, going undefeated in each of those seasons. The same team also advanced to the OFSAA volleyball championships twice, both times finishing in the top five. He also played a season for the Westside Volleyball Club in Oakville finishing fourth at the Ontario Volleyball Championships. After high school, he played at Mohawk College for one season before leaving competitive play to focus on his schooling. Outside of volleyball, Aleks is a Mohawk College graduate from both the Industrial Engineering Technician and Industrial Engineering Technology Management Co-op programs. For the past ten years he has been working as a pump manufacturing supervisor and as a real estate sales representative. He currently resides with his wife and four children in Stoney Creek. This is his sixth season coaching in the OVA. He is looking forward building on the successes of last season and further developing each players skills, competitiveness and confidence.

Dragana Ljubicic

Dragana started her volleyball career in elementary school, playing throughout high school, and ultimately making the tough choice to not play during university. Never having the opportunity to play club volleyball when she was younger, Dragana became dedicated to self-improvement which led to her success on court. She continues to work on self-improvement in multiple facets of her life and hopes to share both her love of the sport and her drive to succeed with her team.

Dragana is a wife, a mother of four, and an educator with the HWDSB, and a property manager. She is a busy wife and mom that rarely gets a relaxing day to herself, but when the opportunity comes up, she enjoys baking, gardening, reading, and basking in the sun on the beach – probably all in one day. This is her fourth season as a coach with the Smash Raiders Volleyball Club, taking the COVID year off to spend some time with her family.

HEAD COACH 12U & ASSISTANT COACH - 15U ICE

Julie McElroy-Morris

Julie’s involvement with volleyball began at the age of 10. She was encouraged along the way by her middle school teacher and coach, Kelly Kawamoto.  Julie was sidelined by a knee injury at the age of 18, but continued to play recreationally until a few years ago.

Julie is a high school teacher by trade, but recently began working as the Chief Negotiator for the OSSTF Union.  She coached both girls and boys high school volleyball at Westdale and Sherwood from 1998 – 2010.  Julie is excited to be joining 12U as the Head Coach and 15U Ice as an Assistant Coach and looks forward to celebrating all of the successes and accomplishments of the team throughout the season.

In her spare time, Julie can be found helping out on her kids’ sports teams, reading, cooking or planning her next getaway.
